DSA, DDG, TKG & Communi
The Digital Services Act (DDG) is the national implementation of the European Digital Services Act (DSA) in Germany. The DSA, which has been in force since February 17, 2024, establishes a uniform legal framework for digital intermediation services within the EU. To transpose the DSA's provisions into national law, the German Federal Government enacted the DDG, which entered into force on May 14, 2024. With the DDG's entry into force, the previous Telemedia Act (TMG) was repealed, and its regulations were incorporated into the DDG. The DDG replaced the Telecommunications and Telemedia Data Protection Act (TTDSG) and now regulates data protection requirements for digital services and telecommunications.
In addition, the TKG (Telecommunications Act) also applies to operators of public number-independent communication services.
